End of Summer

The end of summer can be a bit hard to swallow. It is exciting that school is around the corner, sad realizing lazy days at the pool are coming to a close, and a bit daunting with all the things that need to get taken care of before the school year begins. Also, if your kids are anything like my kids, by this time they are starting to get restless.

SUMMER CAMP is the most wonderful option…

Currently my girls are in Texas for the week with their Grandma at horse camp! I am hoping in addition to having fun, they will be learning a little bit of self-sufficiency without their Mamma there to bail them out of their quabbles. 🙂

“EQTM”

Every once in a while your kids ask you to do things that you don’t really want to do, but you do it anyway because you love them and you know it means a lot to them. Here is one of those moments. We made Lip Balm! My oldest daughter got this as a birthday present and has been dying to try it out. All the girls got to participate at least by sitting and watching close by.

Yay! I get brownie points for an EQTM, an “Extra Quality Time Moment.” How is your day going? Are you making time for that “Quality Time Moment” that matter so much? Or even an Extra Quality Time Moment? You can do it! It only takes a couple minutes and a good book or really looking them in the eyes and asking about them. It’s hard sometimes, trust me I know, but it is the simple things honestly that are the most meaningful.

Dinner Time Prep

I’ve decided that I am going to try to bond more with my kids after school and use mealtime as teaching time by prepping meals together! We will start out small with at least 2-3x a week. I want to get the kids more involved in prepping the meal and getting dinner on the table. It was getting to be too much to do by myself. Although it is easier in some ways to have no fighting or extra mess without their help, I think it will be more worth it through time as they get better and can be more and more helpful. Also, I want them to be self sufficient by the time they leave for college by cooking at least a few meals on their own.
